Craig D. Sarnow
Assistant Chief of Police Craig Sarnow began his career with the Milwaukee Police Department in 1998. After graduating from the academy, he was assigned to District Seven as a Late-Shift Patrol Officer. In 2005, he was promoted to Police Sergeant, serving in District Two and later in the Internal Affairs Division. He advanced to Police Lieutenant in 2017, where he worked in District One and later in Internal Affairs.
By 2019, he earned the rank of Captain of Police and commanded the Fusion Division. He was later reassigned to Internal Affairs, ensuring investigations into allegations of misconduct were thorough, objective, and impartial. In December 2021, he was promoted to Inspector of Police of the Administration Bureau, and in January 2024, he achieved the rank of Assistant Chief of Police, continuing in an executive leadership role of the Administration Bureau.
A lifelong Milwaukee resident, Assistant Chief Sarnow graduated from Milwaukee Tech High School in 1992. He holds a bachelor’s degree in broad area business from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls and is a Certified Public Manager, having completed the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Command College through the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
